4. Planning for Mobile Content Challenge 2008.

Just saw the event poster at the School of Engineering office, Mobile Content Challenge is back!!

This competition is the initiative of Maxis Communication Bhd, KTAK and SKMM.

The aim of this challenge:

… is to encourage students to develop mobile content and applications, identify and cultivate an innovative mindset among students and to nurture a community of young entrepreneurs who will develop Malaysian content.

Note: The deadline for entry submission is 31st July 2008. However, you might want to register your team earlier as there is a deadline for registration on 10th July 2008.

Consider that not only this is a chance to participate in mobile content development but also an opportunity to win the great prizes:

Best Mobility Content - RM30,000 for Team + RM30,000 for IHL

Runners-up - RM10,000 each Team for Additional Special Prizes:
• Mobile commerce
• Mobile info base
• Mobile learning/education
• Mobile entertainment

Meanwhile, they will be conducting workshop in several cities from 14th ~ 24th July, don’t miss the workshop if you happened to be in the city they are visiting.

MCC Workshops

Workshops that will highlight trends and development in the content development industry will be held regionally around Malaysia during July 2008. MCC organizers and partners will also be present for a special opportunity to network directly with the industry. Workshops are also a great opportunity to get more information and to ask questions regarding MCC concepts for submission.

By the way, the Mobile Content Challenge official website is not fully updated yet. Most of the information still dated as 2007. Currently, the updated page is http://mdp.contentchallenge.info/challenge.php where you can download the Summary/Registration Form and Rules&Regulation.

Guess Google Maps has updated their satellite photos of Miri City.

Still, couldn’t locate Desa Senadin/Curtin Sarawak on Google Maps as some rural part of Miri is not visible.

Error 404 means Page Not Found, this problem has been bothering me for quite a while.

Everything is running smooth except when u click into the Blog Entry/Post/Pages.

Instead of the content you saw displayed perfectly on the frontpage, you will see this:

Before I realized the root of the problem, I tried so many methods to get rid of that 404:

Remove and Replace EVERY SINGLE WordPress File, Change permission of directories…

Blek, I still get the same error in the end.

Fortunately, I remembered the problem occurred after I change the Permalink structure setting.

Solution:

Edit your .htaccess in your WordPress root directory and add this:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

Remember! Once you changed your permalinks structure, you need to add the above code to activate the rewrite engine, otherwise you will end up with plenty of 404 Not Found error pages…

Like it? For me, it is a whole new experience watching video either interactively or with captions.

I find it fun to interact with magic performer where we can pick the card.

And the skydiving video is cool with captions.

Reason: Otherwise the audience will be bored watching the video as they do not understand what stunt the skydiver is trying to perform.

However, it is still in Beta stage, means only English is supported.

Still fresh in memory, last year I was competing with the other 5 teams in the final round under Mobile Content category. It was a 50% chance to grab the RM 30,000 grant for prototype development.

Was so excited when I heard about this challenge/competition and I thought I could back to the stage with a new idea.

But, this time MSC do not welcome Student to participate in this challenge/competition. It is a new rule:

Haiz, it breaks my heart. Not even a 0.1% chance for me to claim the grant this year.

Anyway, the deadline is around July ‘08 (actual date depends on category), still have time if you start preparing now. Good Luck ya~

I faced this problem after I upgraded to the latest Wordpress version 2.5.1~

Googled around, and I found the solution: (Thanks to LSRN94 and WordPress support forum)

It is simple. Just edit your .htaccess file in your WordPress root directory and add in the code below:

Many people tried this solution and solved their problem. Hope this can help you too.
